Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
I don't get all this bollocks that if a ref see's it the outcome can't be changed.

Why?

If you make a mistake in work, it would get rectified. You wouldn't just go, oh yeah he saw that it was a mistake so that is that, can't be changed now.

If a ref get's a decision wrong, which he did do, he didn't even give Barnes a yellow for that tackle, it should be reviewed and rectified, i.e 3 game ban.

Matic was within his rights to push him to the ground, that still is a red mind.

that rule is shite and needs to be rewrote

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Bizarre

@FA: In line with this rationale, FA confirm no further action in relation to Ashley Barnes as incident was seen by the officials 5/5

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card

I don't see how you can say he saw it for what it really was...or he would have been sent off at the time! There's no grey area here, it was a straight red, end of story.

That's quality

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
I wouldn't normally think they'd win the appeal but after this weekend's matches it wouldn't surprise me. If I were them I'd definitely compare it to Vertoghen's incredibly similar push on Noble which didn't even get a yellow.

Part of me wants him to win the appeal too, without Matic I can see Chelsea losing to Spurs in the Capital One final. No one wants that!

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Got no problem with what Matic did. You should be allowed to do that if someone nearly breaks your leg. I thought he was restrained to be honest,it's not as if he netted the bloke.

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Joey Barton pushed some Hull player and that was ignored until he hit Huddlestone in the bollocks.
When does a push go from nothing to yellow to red?

I would rank offences in terms of the harm they cause or were intended to cause (ie swinging a punch or a two footed tackle that is avoided) and most handbag offences should see players told to get on with the game.

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
If he wasn't held back by Terry and Zouma then he would have done a lot more than push him.

He had to go, frivolous appeal, two game ban. Simples

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
he had no chance of staying on his feet though did he?

Rossal 2:45 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
He did only push him......if Barnes doesnt go down and stays on his feet probs just a yellow

penners28 2:45 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
if that appeal is upheld it opens all kinds of cans of worms. i hope they get an extra match ban for doing so. that means that people can retaliate how they want when they are fouled.

Sven Roeder 2:44 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
There was some odd refereeing at the weekend and unfortunately I think Mourinho was right in his outrage about minute 30 minute whatever.

To be honest Noble should have got the second yellow (though the first was soft bollocks) and Vertonghen should have got a straight red for pushing him as he did. Was worse than Matic's

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Cant beleive anyone thinks it should be recinded, tackle was horrendous but he reaction is a red all day long. He misses our game so fucking good

Hammer29 2:42 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
I love this. This also happened at the weekend. Another bad tackle but the reaction is slightly more than a shove!

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
If the player had been standing next to him and he pushed him he probably would have got a yellow, but the fact that he run 10 yards and pushed him in the back, it just didn't look good. Doubt he'll get off.

Sven Roeder 2:35 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Think it sums up modern football that Barnes will get nothing for this incident and Matic will miss 3 games including a cup final.

This rule about incompetent refs being protected needs to go.
The tackle deserves a ban

Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
I don't think Matic will get off either. It will be interesting to see if he gets another match ban for a frivolous appeal!

stewie griffin 2:32 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
tbf, I think its mad that's considered a red card offence. A little shove, yellow at most.

Proper gay, is modern football

Eddie B 2:31 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Barnes won't get anything as the ref saw it.

Matic won't get off as it was clearly retaliaiton.

Steve P 2:29 Mon Feb 23
Re: Chelsea to appeal Matic's red card
Well, exactly - if he gets off, he can play.
